1876. Bootleg, Colorado
Bootleg, Colorado started as a small settlement of mostly war veterans or workers from the building of the Transcontinental railroad who wanted to settle down in the wide, open country. Most attempted to make a living tending cattle or farming, and, despite the hard nature of their work they were happy.[/blockquote]
And then it happened.
In nearby Deadman's Corridor, a drifter who was just passing through, struck silver. It wasn't long until more people began showing up to strike it rich mining, and even more people came to strike it rich tending to the miners needs. Seemingly over night, Bootleg had turned into a bona fide city.
But with a real city, comes real problems. The promise of silver and riches drew all kinds of people. The good, the bad, and the ugly all convened in this small city, where walls for new buildings were being erected daily.
It wasn't long before this small town captured the eyes of the infamous Colton Gang, and the town became overrun with criminals, drifters and other down right unpleasant folk. The law enforcement is doing what they can, even requesting a few U.S. Marshals to come down and help straighten things out; which hasn't exactly done anything to improve the Sheriff's popularity.
Despite all that can be said about the city of Bootleg, one thing is certain: there are sides, and neutrality is nothing but a thing of the past. The entire town is a poker game, and the stakes are the lives of the people inside of the city limits.
