Basic Information;
Basic Information;
Character's Full Name: Johanna Lucy Barker
Nicknames:Shes never been addressed by anything but Johanna. Sometimes she is addressed as Miss Barker.
Age && Birthday:15th of June
Occupation:Lady of Leisure.
Class: Upper of course.
Appearance;
Johanna inherited her looks from her mother, she is very petit at only 5ft 4 and her waist when in a corset comes to a tiny seventeen inches. She has a small oval face with large blue eyes and a button nose. She often holds a sad expression or an expression of pure curiosity. Loneliness oozes from her eyes and if anyone cared to take a moment to look into them it would be obvious how unhappy she was. Like her mother Johanna was waist length golden hair that falls in waves down her back. She never wears it up unless it’s a very special occasion and much prefers to wear it down with the front strands tied back off her face in an elegant knot.
The Judge always buys her expensive gowns made to fit her to perfection. She prefers the color blue and has many blue dresses that are intricately decorated; she doesn’t wear much jewelry but does own a single string of pearls that the judge brought her on her 13th birthday. She wears them everyday to keep the judge happy but she doesn’t really care for pearls.
Personality;
Johanna has been kept in solitude for a long time; she isn’t allowed to speak to anyone unless the judge introduces her to someone himself. Because of her limited social life she often withdraws herself to imaginary worlds. She loves to read and will often immerse herself in her books only to be disappointed when they are finished, so when she reads all her new books she likes to sit by her window and watch the people below making up her own stories about the life’s they lead.
Johanna is very kind natured if she wanted to be rude or to argue with someone she wouldn’t know how to do it and would probably end up stumbling over her words. She loves animals her favorite being birds, she often wishes she was a bird so she could fly far away, however she isn’t so she enjoys there company and wonderful singing voices.
Being the ward of someone like the Judge her education certainly hasn’t been neglected. She has a female tutor who comes to her three times a week and teaches her languages, etiquette and much more making sure she is the perfect lady. Johanna has a love for music and loves her music lessons; she is talented with the piano and singing.
She has a constant fear of Judge Turpin who although he has brought her up and given her everything seems to have an odd fascination with her that she doesn’t fully understand. She’s scared of the power he has over her and she feels like she has neither privacy nor freedom.
If Johanna can be accused of anything it would be of being defensive of her actions, she’s always afraid she’s done something wrong or something to displease someone. She has this need to make friends and is extremely willing to make new friends, anyone to cure her of her loneliness.

BEST MEMORYJohanna hasn’t got many memories that stick out in her mind as her best memory but one that she greatly loves is the first time Judge Turpin brought back a nightingale for her in a cage. She hung it by her window so they could look out like she. Johanna hates to cage them but couldn’t bear to see them set free leaving her behind.
WORST MEMORYJohanna was about seven and her and the Judge where taking a stroll in the park. She wandered off to see the ducks at the pond and was befriended by a young boy. For some reason this displeased the Judge and he marched her straight home and locked her in her room until she apologized for being sinful and running away from him.
History;
Johanna was Born to Benjamin and Lucy Barker two respectable people, her early months where blissful, living with two parents who where ever so much in love and who doted on her. Sadly this wasn’t to last, as Judge Turpin sent her father off on a false conviction in the hope he could marry her mother. But she didn’t fall for his advances and one night he sent for her and raped her, Lucy after that tried to kill herself with arsenic but only succeeded in driving herself insane. Johanna knows nothing of this and thinks that Turpin took her in out of the kindness of his heart after he saw her in a workhouse. She thinks her mother died giving birth to her and her father was hung for thieving. Turpin of course concocted this idea himself.
Johanna’s young life with Judge Turpin was relatively happy he gave her everything her heart desired. Although she was never aloud to play with children her own age she had a wonderful tutor from the age of six and she learnt everything a young woman should learn. As she grew up things began to change the restraints on her life tightened and she was no longer aloud to leave the house with her tutor, she could only leave if she was with Judge Turpin. . She desperately wanted to attend a school for young girls or to be allowed to meet other young women in her class but she was denied this. She noticed the Judges Attitude change towards her too, and she didn’t understand why it had changed.
On many an occasion she noticed the judge staring at her in an odd way and she remembers vividly once when she was just thirteen he took her for a walk in the park where a young boy threw a ball her way she went to pick it up for him and gave it to him with a smile wondering if she might make a friend. After they got back to the house the Judges rage at her speaking to another person without his permission had terrified her so much she was too scared to come down for dinner which made things much worse. He refused to let her eat for a day claiming she was an ungrateful child. From then on she feared speaking to anyone he didn’t introduce her to. She found comfort in books and music it was a way out of her very small world and she delighted in the freedom it gave her.
She’s now just had her fifteenth birthday and is only allowed out on a Sunday to attend church under the supervision of the Judge and Beadle. She hasn’t been allowed out into society and often wonders of her future, will she ever escape this prison?

Your RP;
Johanna had been looking forward to visiting the market ever since the Judge had informed her they would be coming two days before, she loved to come to the market it was filled with so many different sights, but her young eyes only picked up the pleasant things which the market held. She didn’t notice the prostitutes lurking in the alleyways, nor the opium that filtered from one of the opium dens nearby.
The night before she had picked her favourite blue corseted dress, blue was her favourite colour and according to her guardian it matched her lovely blue eyes, but the dress was her favourite and she had looked forward to wearing it out. Johanna didn’t let the fact she was to stay by the Judges side spoil how much she was enjoying being outside. She was looking forward to getting a new dress, although sometimes the new clothes became wary to her and occasionally she’d prefer a new novel or bird. She looked forward to browsing through the pretty materials, Johanna often found herself looking from her window down onto the woman and the beautiful fashions they’d sport. She would imagine she was one of the Lady’s being escorted towards Hyde Park for a stroll before leaving to attend one of the wonderful parties she had heard about.
Johanna paused at the Judges side as they past an animal stall, her eyes where drawn to the Nightingales in a cage, she watched as they sung, they had the most beautiful voices and she couldn’t help but be hypnotised by the birds. She didn’t think about the fact she had stopped suddenly nor whether she was still at the Judges side, she was caught up in the way they flitted about and she couldn’t help but be angry about them being caged up. They should be allowed to fly freely not caged outside in this marketplace, Johanna had a small collection of birds in her room at home she had been given a Green Finch for her birthday a few weeks ago off her guardian but she couldn’t help but worry the Bird was lonely.
A middle aged male stall keeper approached Johanna ringing his hands excitedly at the thought of making a sale, “Like Birds do you Miss?” he inquired, Johanna looked slightly taken aback, she wasn’t used to dealing with salesmen “yes, I do” she said meekly as she glanced back up to the birds, wondering if they sang because they couldn’t fly.
