MRS NELLIE LOVETT
Basic Information;
Basic Information;
Character's Full Name: Mrs Nellie Lovett
Nicknames: 'Pet'
Age && Birthday: 14th March; 36
Occupation: Shop Keeper/ Baker
Class: Middle
Appearance;
To say that Nellie Lovett looks her age would actually be quite a lie. The ways she dresses and wears her hair tend to add years onto her appearance, years that she’d rather not have people guessing about. Her skin is pale, but smooth and rather sensitive.
Nellie’s hair is a shade of chestnut brown, if not a bit darker, and rather curly. She’s always wearing it up in two ratty buns on top of her head with strands hanging down all over. It could be considered quite untidy, but you try getting a brush through curly hair without breaking the brush! It's not that easy.
Although her hair is very curly and hard to tame, Nellie actually likes her hair and enjoys styling it in it's usual style every morning. To her, her hair is who she is, and it shows off her personality
Mrs Lovett figure is quite plain, she has a nice shape and curves in the right places. Then again, she wears a corset so that gives her alot of figure. But even without the corsett, her body is well balanced
Personality;
The first thing you can notice about Mrs Lovett, is that something is not quite right about her. People often say she's off her rocker and has been for many years. Then again, who can blame her after she became a widow and her buisness started to fail?
Mrs Lovett is usually quite cheery and upbeat, even when she tries not to be. She tries to look on the possitive sides of things and never likes to be saddened for too long. She knws that nothing ever happens if you mope around, you just have to get on with life, no matter what happens
To customers and strangers she's quite polite, she does all she can to make sure people will come back to her buisness again and again. Even when she knows she's not that good at making pies. But although she is polite, there is only so much she'll tolerate. The worse you treat her, the less polite she'll become. And if you catch her on bad day, she might chase you out of the shop with her rolling pin.
Around Mr Todd [or Mr T] she seems to become a whole new person. She becomes less professional and 'proper' and become very flirtatous and suggestive. She never seems to stop herself from saying things to him, which can sometimes land her in trouble.
She isn’t afraid of being brutally honest with herself, either. After all, if you sell the Worst Pies in London you’d think you’d have to learn to be honest with yourself at some point in time.
Mrs Lovett is also quite decietful and manipulating, especially with Mr T. She'll do anything to stop him finding out the truth about Lucy. She tends to be the one to calm him and to manipulae him into waiting and taking on her ideas
In Depth
HOBBIESBeing around Mr Todd and baking is Mrs Lovetts hobbies. They might not be what you call your normal hobbies, but a hobby is something you enjoy. And this is what she enjoys
LIKESThe only thing Mrs Lovett likes in the world right now is Mr Todd. She loved him when he was Benjamin Barker, and she loves him even more now. And she'd like nothing better then to marry him and live 'By the sea'. She also has a soft spot for Toby.
DISLIKESDisrespect towards her and the fear that Mr Todd will find out the truth about Lucy really worries Mrs Lovett. And for that fact alone she dislikes it, and whenever she sees the old beger woman she'll quickly get rid of her.
She also doesn't like the way that Toby is treated by Pirelli, she feels very sorry for him, and thinks that it's not fair on the lad.
BEST MEMORYMrs Lovett's best memory was probably when Benjamin Barker came and rented the room above her and her husbands shop. Her marriage wasn't the greatest one in the world, and the arrival of mr Barker ignited a flame within her heart.
Another good memory was when Sweeney Todd aka Mr Barker returned. Mrs Lovett hopes that the two can finally be together.
WORST MEMORYHer poor Albert dying, she did love him, and although their marriage wasn't the best one in the world, she was still very sad to see him go.
History;
From a young age, Nellie loved to cook and bake, whenever her father came home from work he'd see her with flour all over her and with different mixtures in her hair. Her mother was a baker herself so Nellie learnt a lot off of her.
When attending school, Nellie was teased quite a bit for her nose and not many boys or girls liked her. Nellie often came home upset and angry, but all that went when she got her rolling pin out and started to make something.
When her mother died, Nellie vowed never to bake again, after all she'd only been eight when her mother had died and her mother had taught her everything. So Nellie went through school trying to handle all of the taunts. There were times when she was tempted to bake again, but then the memory of her mother would return and she'd stay clear.
Her father, angry and bothered by this, finally confronted Nellie when they began to loose too much money, although he had a job, and he was good at it. It wasn't a steady job, which meant trouble for the Lovett family.
Confronted with guilt, she began to bake again, and it wasn't long till she was her old self again, and she soon forgot all of her troubles and although her pies didn't sell for much, a steadier income began to come in.
She didn’t marry until she was at least twenty, and it was to a baker on Fleet Street. He owned his own shop with a room above it. Nellie had gone inside and asked him if there was any possible way that she could’ve rented out the room for her own baking. This was the beginning of their relationship, which eventually, as I stated, resulted in them marrying. Nellie wouldn't have married him, but her father was ill, and he was growing old, as if he could die any moment. If her father died, she would be left on the street as a beggar woman. Marrying would ensure security and a place to live. It was a marriage of convenience, not love.
Baking together they would rent the room on top of their shop to others, many people came and went. About a year after her marriage, a family had asked to rent out the room and pay boarding on it, to live there, so the man could open his barber shop. The man was absolutely gorgeous, Nellie couldn’t help but notice. His wife was a small little slip of a thing, and just as beautiful, too. Albert hadn’t been there at the moment, so Nellie had greedily accepted the offer. Not only would it mean they would be making more money, but she would be enjoying the company of the man and his family.
Albert soon noticed her attraction to Barker and grew angry, one night he went out to the local tavern. Nellie thought very little of it until police came round to inform her that he'd been attacked and that he was dead. She mourned for a while but soon got over it, after all she hadn't really loved him.
Just after the routine settled in (Nellie had learned of the boarders’ names: Benjamin and Lucy Barker, and their little daughter was named Johanna) something absolutely horrible had happened.
Benjamin had been exiled on a charge (that Nellie had thought was rather trumped-up) and sent away to an Australian penal colony.
Lucy was then tricked into going to the judge’s house, the judge who had exiled Benjamin. It was then that Nellie had realized his plan. He’d sent Benjamin away so he could get his hands on Lucy.
Apparently, from what Nellie had heard, the judge had raped her and Lucy had then taken arsenic. The little girl, Johanna, had become the judge’s ward.
Fifteen years later, Benjamin Barker returned to London and to Mrs. Lovett’s shop a changed man. He was no longer Benjamin Barker, but Sweeney Todd

Your RP;
With a heavy sigh, Mrs Lovett watched as her most recent customer left her shop, with that familiar look on their face. It was the old look she had gotten used to, but now that her pies were getting better, the look of disgust confused and hurt her. She needed Mr T to kill someone, otherwise she'd have to resort back to the cheap and disgusting meat she used to use for her old pies.
Since discovering that Mr T was in fact Benjamin Barker, the very man she had loved oh so long ago had brought life back into her. She was always cheerful now that he was back, and many people had started to notice this. Although she wasn't going to tell them the reason for her happiness, she couldn't exactly betray Mr T. That would be so awful.
Humming to herself, she began to tidy away all the dirt and leftovers from her recent pies that she'd made, it wouldn't be long now till closing time. And she knew what that meant, another moan about the judge not coming.
Although Nellie loved Sweeney so much, she could not stand another moan about how the judge hadn't come. She couldn't understand why he couldn't just enjoyhow things were right now. He was successful, well known, and he had money to his name. And still all he wanted was revenge. Mrs Lovett could understand he was angry and hurt, but why couldn't he wait and savour the moment? She was certainly having fun, so why couldn't he?
Brushing some of the extra unused flour onto the flour, Mrs Lovett sighed and put her elbows on her worksurface and rested her head on her hands. Oh how she loved Mr T. She could be such a good wife to him. The two were meant to be, both were lost souls searching for something. If only he could see that all he needed was her. Then they could move to the seaside, get married and forget all their troubles. And Mrs Lovett wouldhave Mr T far away from the truth.
Hearing the door upstairs shut, a smile spread across her face and she stood up straight and tall. That was Mr T's last customer, and although she was slightly dissapointed that he was not dead and lying in her basement ready to be turned into a pie. At least it meant Mr T would be down here soon, ready for their usual chat.
Straightening out her dress and making sure her hair was fixed up and looking nice, she opened the door for Mr Todd and smiled sweetly. "How was work today then ma dear?" She said sweetly. "Shall I get you some ale?" Ah perfect Mrs Lovett, always looking out for poor Mr Todd, it wouldn't be long now till he realised how much he needed her. And then there wiuld be wedding bells, sweet sweet wedding bells
